Liu Changle is the Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of Hong Kong-based Phoenix Satellite
Television Holdings Ltd, which operates five
channels, including a 24-hour news channel, and
can be seen across the Asia Pacific, North America,
Europe and North Africa. After working at the
Central Radio Station in Beijing, Liu went into
private business in 1988, basing himself in Singapore
and trading in petroleum and other products.
He formed a joint-venture partnership with News
Corporation and established Phoenix Television in
March 1996. Phoenix went public in 2000 and is
listed on the Hong Kong Growth Enterprise
Market. Liu is the Justice of the Peace of Hong
Kong, and also the largest shareholder in Asia
Television Limited, Hong Kong’s second largest
free-to-air television broadcaster. He is a Director
of the International Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences and is chairman of the 2005 and
2006 EMMYs Festival.
