Diethard Gagelmann, Member of the Executive Board, International Procurement, Otto Group, Germany
Diethard Gagelmann is a member of the Executive
Board, International Procurement, of the Hamburg-
based Otto Group. The Otto Group is a
leading trading and services group, operating in
the major economies of Europe, Asia and North
America. Mr. Gagelmann has been working for the
company for 34 years, primarily in procurement
roles. From 1992 to 1996, he was executive director
of the French mail order company 3 Suisses.
Following his return to Otto, he joined the Executive
Board in 1998. Since the restructuring of
the Board in 2005, his main responsibilities
included the bundling of goods flows and the
coordination of purchasing operations for the
Group as a whole. Some 70 percent of the Group’s
goods currently come from China. His many years
of close involvement in trading with Asia have
given Mr. Gagelmann an intimate knowledge of
Sino-European relations.
