Ed Hotard, Chairman, Monitor Group, P.R. China
Edgar (Ed) G. Hotard is a Senior Advisor to the
Monitor Group, serving as the Chairman of the
Monitor Group (China). He is also a Senior Advisor
to MPM Capital; a Venture Partner with ARCH
Venture Partners and Managing General Partner of
Hotard Holdings Ltd. In 1999, Ed Hotard retired as
President and Chief Operating Officer of Praxair
Inc. During his career he co-led the spin-off of
Praxair from Union Carbide Corporation where he
was a corporate Vice-President, led the integration
and restructuring of CBI Industries into
Praxair, advised on market entries into China and
on acquisitions and alliances in the US, Japan,
Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and China. He spent
over 15 years involved in China business development.
Ed Hotard is a member of the Board of
Directors of Global Industries, Ltd, and a member
of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors
of the US China Business Council. In 2000,
the municipality of Beijing presented him the
Great Wall Friendship Award.
