Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group, President & CEO Volkswagen Group China, P.R. China
Dr. Vahland, born in 1957, majored in Mechanical
Engineering and Economics at the TU Darmstadt
and received an MBA from General Motors Institute,
Michigan, USA. In 1985, Dr. Vahland started
as a project analyst of European investments at
Adam Opel AG. In 1990 he joined Audi AG as Head
of Controlling & Profit Analysis. In 1993, he was
assigned to Volkswagen AG as Director of Group
Controlling. From 1995 to 1997, he worked as a
Sales Executive Director Overseas. In 1997, Dr.
Vahland became Finance Executive Director of
Volkswagen do Brasil Ltda. One year later, he was
promoted to Vice President for Finance and Corporate
Strategy. In 2002, Dr. Vahland was appointed
Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of
Skoda Auto. In 2005, Dr. Vahland became President
and CEO of Volkswagen Group China as well
as Global Vice President of Volkswagen Group. He
was given an honorary doctorate degree from the
University of Economics in Prague in 2006.
