Founded in Germany in 1949, the Otto Group is now a worldwide-operating trade and services group with more than 53,000 employees on three continents. Its activities cover four business segments: Multichannel Retail, Financial Services, Services and Wholesale.
Thanks to the resolute implementation of a number of innovative concepts and ideas, the Otto Group achieved record revenue of 15,251 million euros in 2006/07. With EBT for the year at 507 million euros, the Otto Group also posted the best result in its history. One particularly gratifying development was the revenue turnaround in the German market, where growth of 3.8 percent resulted in an overall revenue performance of 7,089 million euros.
The Otto Group is the world’s number two in B2C online trade, second only to Amazon. Over-the-counter retail trade constitutes the third pillar of the successful Multichannel distribution concept at Otto Group, along with mail-order sales and e-commerce.
