Rickmers Group

Rickmers Group is a group of companies with activities in ship owning, liner shipping, real estate, international investments and maritime services, and has roots back to the year 1834. Rickmers has strong traditional ties with China since more than 130 years. The group is based in Hamburg, Germany and has more than 20 own offices. Seven of these are Representative Offices in China. Rickmers employs more than 3 200 crew on board and more than 450 employees ashore worldwide.

Ship owning & Ship management
The family’s shipping activities were consolidated under the leadership of Bertram R.C. Rickmers – the fifth generation – in 1984, by establishing Rickmers Reederei (Rickmers Shipping Company). Rickmers is today one of Germany’s leading shipowners- and managers and is chartering its fleet to renowned shipping lines worldwide. The current fleet of Rickmers Group consists of 108 vessels, mainly container ships, with further 20 vessels on order/under construction. A considerable part of the fleet was, and will be, delivered from Chinese shipyards.

Liner services for breakbulk, heavy-lift and project cargoes
Rickmers-Linie is the leading specialist for the worldwide transportation of breakbulk, heavylifts and project cargo. Vessels in the company’s Round-The-World Pearl String Service with fortnightly eastbound sailings are a regular sight a.o. in the ports of Hongkong, Shanghai, Dalian, Xingang and Qingdao. The company currently owns or long-term charters 13 multipurpose vessels and has fourteen new vessels under construction at Chinese yards, due to join the fleet in 2011-12.

Real Estate
“Rickmers Immobilien” developes the real estate portfolio of Rickmers Group and is also active in the management of this portfolio.

International Investments
ATLANTIC is the investment company of Rickmers Group. Specialised in ship funds, Atlantic also expands to areas which are not related to the maritime business, such as the funding of real estate projects.

Maritime Services
The business portfolio of Rickmers Group is rounded up by the segment of maritime related service companies, such as the chartering and bunkering broker MCC Marine or Expert Shipping Service, who are renowned Consultants & Surveyors for Marine Technology and Sea Transport.
