Baosteel Group Corporation

Baosteel Group Corporation was established in Shanghai, China, in 1978. As one of the leading steelmakers in the world, Baosteel produces a wide range of high tech and high value-added steel products. In 2009 Baosteel turned out 38.87 million tons of steel and was listed under the world top three steelmakers in 2009 and 2008 by Metal Bulletin.

While diversifying moderately its business in some related areas, Baosteel concentrates on steel business as its core business, targeting 66 million ton production by 2015. According to its mission, Baosteel shall become a first-class supplier for steel products, technology and service. The corporate vision aims for Baosteel to become a leader in steel technology, a driving force in green industry and a model for joint development of staff and enterprise.

In its globalization endeavour, Baosteel has been exporting products to 86 countries and regions, and developed a sales and production network of over 20 overseas companies. In 1993 the European-African headquarters Baosteel Europe GmbH was set up in Hamburg, Germany, taking charge of Baosteel’s international business in Europe, Africa, Middle East and the CIS regions.
