Dresdner Bank AG
Dresdner Bank was founded in Dresden in 1872 and developed from a regional bank in Saxony to one of the leading banks in Germany. Since 2001, Dresdner Bank has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Allianz Group.
In its Personal Banking and Private & Business Banking divisions, Dresdner Bank facilitates more than five million clients. Through its 940 branches, customers are offered with a wide range of Dresdner Bank finance and Allianz insurance products, a large variety of sales channels and expanded advisory capacity and expertise.
The Corporate Banking division acts as an integrated wholesale bank for approximately 9,000 corporate customers in Germany. Corporate Banking offers this customer group a regionally based support organisation plus the transactions expertise of a European investment bank and the broad access to the international capital markets.
Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein is strategically positioned as an international investment bank. The main clients for our investment banking and capital markets products and capital markets advisory services are governments, international enterprises, financial institutions and investors.
Ties of Dresdner Bank with China actually exist over 100 years. Committing to China’s economic reform, the bank established a representative office in Beijing, which – as the first European bank – received full branch license in 1997. As the first German bank we opened an operative branch in Shanghai in 1993 and were also the first German bank to offer banking business in Chinese Yuan (CNY) in 1998. Apart from Beijing and Shanghai, Dresdner Bank has been operating a Representative Office in Guangzhou since 1995.
Dresdner Bank used its built-up network to fulfill its commitment to China. Numerous lending activities have been successfully conducted, e.g. we arranged as a sole lead manager China’s first DM 300 million in 1987. In 2002 the Guotai Junan Allianz Fund Management Co., Ltd. started its operation in Shanghai.Dresdner Bank AG
